Resort View May 2024 - Meet the Faces of Resort Bowl

Have you visited the Resort Bowl recently? You might have seen these friendly faces in the area. Meet the Resort Bowl team, consisting of Executive Dennis Chew, the CSOs (Customer Service Officers) and the Bowling Mechanics.

Dennis joined NSRCC in 2007 in the Sports & Recreation Division. Three years later, he moved to Resort Bowl and hasn’t looked back since.

Dennis manages all the facilities in Resort Bowl, including the bowling alleys, karaoke rooms, Nintendo Playroom, Family Zone and more. What keeps him motivated all these years are the happy faces of the bowlers who come from all walks of life to play here - from corporate events to youth bowlers. He finds great satisfaction in knowing that the staff at Resort Bowl do their best in making the events, tournaments and even leisure games a success.

“This shows that my team (CSOs & Mechanics) are seriously working very hard behind the scenes, giving their best to provide all our customers a happy and enjoyable experience,” says Dennis.

The Bowling CSOs and Mechanics are two dedicated teams in Resort Bowl that ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations for a pleasant experience. The Bowling Mechanics team comprises four staff -- Chew Kok Hua, Yuen Kok Liong, Mike Goh and Adli Shafiq. Every day, the team maintains a routine of oiling all 20 lanes, and polishing the Approach Areas and wiping the house balls among other tasks to ensure a smooth slide for bowlers. At times, our mechanics trouble-shoot malfunctions such as pin jams or missing pins on the spot. 

If you have visited Resort Bowl, you would have been acquainted with the Bowling CSOs who have served you over the phone or behind the counter. The team doesn’t only assist with your bowling games, but also with Karaoke Rooms, Family Zones and other facilities within Resort Bowl.

The “rose among the thorns” is Kua Yen Yen who used to be in the cosmetics and perfumes industry for 45 years before “transferring over” her customer service experience to NSRCC. She enjoys her new work environment which provides one-stop entertainment for people of all ages, and she gets to interact with different types of people, even our golfers!

“I feel a sense of satisfaction whenever the regulars drop by and address me by my name.”

As for Andy Ho, his positive demeanor has had a definite impact on customers. He enjoys his work as he gets to chat with members and guests, and is involved in the preparations for events and bowling tournaments. As his is an indoor job, Andy finds balance through outdoor activities such as hiking and photography on his off days. This helps to re-energise him to be at his best at work.

“My philosophy, which is embracing what is positive, is perhaps what drives me. If one is positive, one will always see good outcome.”

While Andy finds balance in the outdoors, Victor Chia fully embraces his workplace as his indoor sanctuary. “I like handling many areas in a fully air-conditioned workplace - Bowling, KTV and Arcade area - because Singapore is a hot and humid country,” joked Victor. Terence Tang also finds the working environment in NSRCC thriving. In particular, he enjoys the challenge of meeting customers’ expectations when assisting them at the various facilities.

Despite being the newest addition, having joined just last year, Trosper Lim has proven to be a great fit to the team, and he feels right at home. From casual amateurs to seasoned players, Trosper appreciates the opportunity to provide service to all. He finds great joy in helping first-time customers and their kids bowl, and enjoys seeing professional players bowl their “super” shots. His favourite past-time is doing what he calls an activity for the elderly, where he takes the bus to tour around Singapore in search of good food.
