The Club was conferred the environmental stewardship merit award, chapter/country award in 1999,2000 and 2001 respectively for its commitment towards environmental stewardship.

About the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA) is a golf organisation that has its focus on golf course management with a primary focus to provide a voice for and give credence and proper recognition to the golf course superintendent. 

GCSAA came into being because golf course superintendents saw a need to network and share their experiences on the maintenance and upkeep of golf courses.

The association’s philanthropic organisation, The Environmental Institute for Golf, works to strengthen the compatibility of golf with the natural environment through research grants, support for education programmes and outreach efforts.

National Service Resort & Country Club (NSRCC) is the first golf course in Singapore to achieve designation as a ‘Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary’ by Audubon International based in its Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS). Audubon International is a not-for-profit environmental education organisation dedicated to providing people with the education and assistance they need to practise responsible management of land, water, wildlife, and natural resources. To date, only one other Asian course has achieved certification in this programme. 

The Resort joined the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programme for Golf Courses (ACSP) in 1999 upon recognising the potential of our golf courses in contributing positively to the environment. In order to be certified, a course has to demonstrate maintenance of a high degree of environmental quality as well as preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf.

Under this programme, our teams of course maintenance have been actively involved in various projects to continually  protect and enhance wildlife habitats as well as conserve and sustain natural resource on their courses.

Achieving the award demonstrates the Resort's strong commitment and high standards of environmental management.

Our acceptance into International Golf and Life Foundation (IGOLF)’s Laureate Course Program is recognition for the Club’s long record of commitment to the environment, particularly in maintenance and enhancement of biodiversity. We also have the distinction of becoming the first course in Singapore to be accepted in the programme.

These courses have made a commitment to promote environmental and social responsibility by agreeing to the IGOLF Charter – an 8-point description of respecting the environment.

A recipient of the award, presented by Toro Company, marks National Service Resort and Country Club as one of seven winners worldwide to receive the inaugural Environmental Awards in 2008.

This award is intended to spearhead awareness amongst golf course owners and operators on the urgent need to be conscious of the effect and impact that golf courses have on the environment.
